Preparation tips for class 12 chemistry
Chemistry is a branch of science concerned with the study of matter and the elements that make up the substances. It also covers the properties of these compounds and the reactions that occur when they combine to form a chemical compound. Chemistry is mainly concerned with ions, atoms, and molecules combining to create elements and compounds.
Many students find chemistry as a complicated subject, so they fail to perform well in the examination. Students can overcome this problem by referring to NCERT Solutions For Class 12 Chemistry, where students can find the solution for all the chemistry-related issues and queries.
Important topics in class 12 chemistry
Few important topics in class 12 chemistry are,
- Chemical kinetics
The study of the rate and flow of chemical processes is known as chemical kinetics. Reaction kinetics is another name for it.
- Solid-state chemistry
Solid-state chemistry, also known as materials chemistry, analyzes the synthesis, structure, and behavior of solid-phase substances.
The branch of chemistry which deals with the flow of electricity and its chemistry is known as electrochemistry.
- Surface chemistry
Surface chemistry is a branch of science that studies the interactions between various phases of matter.
- P-Block elements
The last electron in a P block element enters one of the three p-orbitals of its respective shell. There are six groups of p-block elements since a p-subshell has three degenerate p-orbitals, each of which can hold two electrons.
- D and F block element
The d-block or transition elements are found in the middle of the periodic table, between the s-block and p-block elements. Inner-transition series refers to the f-block components.
- Coordination compounds
Coordination compounds are chemical compounds made up of an array of anions or neutral molecules bound together by coordinate covalent bonds to a central atom. Coordination complexes are another name for coordination compounds. The ligands are the molecules or ions that are bound to the central atom.
- Aldehydes ketones and carboxylic acids
A carbonyl group is known as a double bond between a carbon atom and an oxygen atom. The shape of the carbonyl group is a trigonal planar structure.
In aldehyde, one of the two additional bonds formed by the carbonyl carbon atom is to a hydrogen atom, while the other is to an aromatic ring or alkyl group, etc.
In ketone, both carbonyl carbon atom’s additional bonds are bound to another carbon atom that belongs to an aromatic or alkyl group.
In carboxylic acid, one of the additional carbonyl carbon atom bonds are linked to a hydroxyl group. At the same time, the other is attached to an aromatic ring system, alkyl group, or hydrogen atom in a carboxylic acid.
Strategies to score good grades
Whenever possible, write your descriptive answers in points and provide graphic diagrams during the exam. It improves visibility. Before you answer, take a look at the paper, draw out an outline of the answer in the margin for lengthy questions. These are the points to be remembered while writing the examination.
While preparing for the exam, students should study according to the marks-wise important topics. It will help to understand the number of questions from the chapters Class 12 Chemistry Solid State, Chemical kinetics, biomolecules, etc.
Chemical reactions take place all around us. Each day, the human body undergoes millions of chemical reactions. Chemical processes involve all body processes, including the use of energy for muscular strength. As a result, chemistry is fundamental in daily life.
